300x300px-baur-steveCALVERTON, MD (October 19, 2016) – MedStar Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) announces the promotion of Steve Baur, DPT, to Vice President of Therapy Services. With this new executive leadership position, MedStar VNA solidifies its objective to establish a new business model that strengthens its homecare rehabilitative services, advances the quality of patient care, and supports the potential to expand services.

In this role, Baur will oversee clinical operations for MedStar VNA’s Suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia agencies as well as offer strategic direction to rehabilitation services – physical, occupational and speech therapies – across MedStar VNA. According to Traci Anderson, MedStar VNA president, “By providing cutting-edge therapy services, we aim to meet our patients needs and set ourselves apart from other homecare providers. Patients and their physicians recognize the value therapy brings to patients who aim to regain their independence at home. With executive leadership focus on therapy services, we know we can make an even greater impact on the people we serve.”

Since joining MedStar VNA in 2011, Baur has served as a physical therapist, care manager, assistant regional operations director, and interim regional operations director. In 2015, Governor Larry Hogan appointed Baur to the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for a four-year term. He is also a 12-year member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Baur earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland at College Park and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine.
